Keeping Property Taxes Flat

Maintaining flat property taxes requires increasing revenue from diverse sources while controlling costs.

As Mayor, I would work with the village board and stakeholders to implement a proactive plan that boosts our economy without burdening you. I’ll expand our commercial tax base with a volunteer-led Economic Development Council to recruit businesses that fit Arlington Heights, easing reliance on homeowners. I’ll support entrepreneurs with streamlined processes and mentoring, like I’ve done successfully before. Mixed-use projects and events—like Taste of Arlington Heights—will drive sales tax revenue, while public-private partnerships (P3s) fund growth without tax hikes.

If big players like the Bears come, I’ll secure revenue certainty for us—not just tax breaks for them. With fiscal transparency and your input, I’ll stretch every dollar, to keep Arlington Heights affordable and thriving.

Here's a more detailed description of my plans:

Expand the Commercial Tax Base

  • Economic Development Council – Establish a volunteer-led council to recruit businesses that complement the local economy, reducing reliance on residential property taxes.

  • Proactive Recruitment – Partner with regional agencies to attract high-value businesses, using targeted incentives.

  • Support for Entrepreneurs – Expand small business resources, mentoring programs, and streamlined processes to encourage local investment.

Enhance Revenue Through Economic Development

  • Mixed-Use & Redevelopment – Identify underutilized properties for mixed-use projects with pre-approved plans that include community input, accelerating development and revenue growth.

  • Tourism & Events – Leverage Uptown, Downtown, and Southtown businesses to attract visitors through events, festivals, and markets that boost sales tax revenue.

  • Technology & Innovation Zones – Recruit high-growth businesses and startups, attracting well-paid professionals to strengthen the economy.

Diversify Revenue Sources

  • Regional Collaboration – Adopt successful revenue-generating strategies from neighboring municipalities.

  • Choice Tax & Sponsorships – Expand high-sales tax businesses, introduce entertainment taxes, and seek sponsorship opportunities to reduce property tax dependence.

  • Public-Private Partnerships (P3s) – Work with private sector partners to fund projects without raising taxes.

Community Engagement & Fiscal Transparency

  • Educate & Involve Residents – Clearly communicate village spending priorities and economic strategies to foster trust and support.

This balanced approach ensures Arlington Heights remains an attractive, affordable place to live and do business while maintaining stable property taxes.
