Public Safety, Leaning on the Experts

As I’ve talked to residents across Arlington Heights, one topic keeps coming up: public safety. Many of you are worried about the recent uptick in crime, and I hear you loud and clear. It’s a priority that demands action, and as your next mayor, I have a straightforward approach to tackling it.

Here’s what I know: we already have the right people at the table to address this—our police chief and his dedicated team. These are the experts we’ve entrusted to protect our community, and they’re the ones best equipped to analyze what’s happening and craft smart, effective solutions. My job as mayor, alongside the trustees, isn’t to step in and micromanage or act like we have all the answers. Our role is to support those experts by making sure they have what they need to succeed.

What does that look like? It means listening when our police team tells us what resources will make a difference—whether that’s funding for more officers, better equipment, or specialized training. It means sharpening our focus on the priorities they identify and backing community education efforts if that’s what they recommend. I’ll ensure they have a platform to brief the board and all of you, the residents, on what’s happening and how we can collaborate to solve these challenges together.

We’ve put these professionals in place for a reason—they’re the ones with the expertise, the experience, and the day-to-day insight into keeping Arlington Heights safe. As mayor, I’ll be there to say, “Tell us what you need,” and then work tirelessly to deliver it. That’s how we’ll turn concern into action and keep our village a place we’re all proud to call home.

I’m ready to lead with this approach—supporting our experts, not second-guessing them. Vote for me as your next mayor, and let’s get to work.
