Jon Ridler’s commitment to Arlington Heights goes far beyond his professional role. In 2013, Jon and his wife Sharon, made the decision to move their family to Arlington Heights from Elgin, wanting his children to benefit from the local schools and to more deeply connect with the community. “I wanted my family to be part of the community I was helping lead and develop in a real way,” he explained.

Visionary Leadership and Community Impact

Ridler’s journey with the Chamber began during a time when businesses were seeking stronger connections and more value from their memberships. Recognizing this, Ridler spearheaded a number of key initiatives, starting with a groundbreaking move in 2008—he introduced a tiered dues structure that made Chamber membership affordable for businesses of all sizes. “I wanted to ensure that every business in Arlington Heights, regardless of their financial standing, had the opportunity to be connected and supported,” Ridler said.

Under Ridler’s guidance, the Chamber launched new events that have since become community staples. One of his most notable achievements was adding the Taste of Arlington Heights to complement the already popular Mane Event—creating a two-day celebration that continues to be a highlight for local residents. The expansion of these events not only brought together the community but also provided a major boost to local businesses.

Ridler’s visionary leadership was especially evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. While many communities faced uncertainty, Ridler quickly mobilized resources to support businesses that were allowed to remain operational. Through strategic communication campaigns, he connected residents with essential services and products, while also providing businesses with the information they needed to secure pandemic funding. Thanks to Ridler’s efforts, local businesses were able to access over $52 million dollars in relief, helping many to survive and continue employing residents.

“His leadership during the pandemic was a lifeline,” said one local business owner. “Without the Chamber’s guidance, we wouldn’t have known where to start with pandemic relief funds. Ridler’s efforts saved countless jobs.”

A Personal Investment in the Community

Ridler’s influence spans many organizations. He served as President of the Arlington Heights Rotary Club in 2019 and is one of the founding members of the Rotary Santa Run, board member with the Arlington Heights Lions Club, past commissioner of the Arlington Heights Economic Alliance, Emcee of the annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast; and has consulted with and lead strategic planning for various community nonprofits.
