I’m committed to reimagining our 326 acres, whether the Chicago Bears come or not. From my time with the Chamber, I’ve seen how we often turn away ideas that don’t match old expectations. It’s time to rethink that.
As your mayor, I’ll start by bringing our community together to shape a bold vision of what we do want—then I’ll work to find the right developers to bring those ideas to life, creating projects we can proudly champion and welcome as a team. If the Bears join us, I’ll ensure we’re ready in advance with partners who align with our goals, so we’re not starting from zero. Collaboration is everything, and I’ll drive it—giving residents a voice, bringing in experts, and crafting a strategy that reflects our community’s future, not just reacting with a “no.”
I believe this could be an ideal spot from the Bears' perspective, but it has to work for Arlington Heights too. I’m data-driven—studies must prove it. When we negotiate, I’ll protect our residents: the Bears want tax certainty, and I get that, but it must guarantee revenue certainty for us. No burden on taxpayers or small businesses. As your mayor, I’ll secure a true partnership—one that lasts and lifts us up. That’s my pledge.
My Vision for Arlington Heights
If the Chicago Bears decide to relocate to Arlington Heights, it presents both opportunities and challenges. As Mayor, I will ensure that we maximize the benefits while addressing potential concerns, keeping the best interests of our residents at the forefront.
The Benefits
Economic Growth: A stadium and surrounding development would create jobs in retail, hospitality, and entertainment. Restaurants, hotels, and businesses would thrive, strengthening the local economy and providing a stable tax base—helping to keep property taxes manageable for residents.
Increased Tourism & Activity: The site could become a year-round entertainment hub, hosting sports events, concerts, and conventions. This increased activity would attract visitors, boosting local businesses and generating additional tax revenue.
Enhanced Infrastructure & Community Amenities: Thoughtful development could bring new parks, green spaces, and improved public transportation, benefiting all residents. Additional businesses and amenities would enhance the overall quality of life in Arlington Heights.
The Challenges
Infrastructure Strain: Increased traffic and event attendance would put pressure on roads and public services. We must proactively upgrade infrastructure, including roads, emergency services, and transit options, to meet demand.
Community Disruptions: Large-scale events can bring noise and congestion. It’s essential to mitigate these impacts through sound urban planning, traffic management, and community engagement.
Financial Considerations: While the development could generate significant revenue, financial risks must be carefully managed. Decisions should be based on data-driven projections to prevent unexpected costs and ensure long-term success.
A Strategic Approach for Success
If the Bears move forward with Arlington Park, we must prioritize a Mixed-Use Innovation District that integrates:
Business & Technology – Partnering with research institutions and tech firms to create a hub for high-paying jobs.
Sports & Entertainment – A regional sports complex, concert venue, and conference centers to drive year-round tourism and revenue.
Vibrant Retail & Dining – A thoughtfully designed district, including a food hall showcasing local talent, to support small businesses and enhance community engagement.
Diverse Housing Options – Mixed-income housing to maintain accessibility, along with property tax relief for seniors.
Sustainability & Transit-Oriented Design – Green spaces, efficient transportation, and environmentally responsible development to preserve Arlington Heights' character.
By engaging residents and businesses in this vision, we can create a thriving, forward-thinking regional destination while honoring the site’s historic legacy. As Mayor, I will ensure that economic growth and quality of life go hand in hand.
